Planning: Title design

I found this cool font called Valline Wish but I do not think it will be the best fit. This font is really cool but after a lot of thought I feel like going with this font would be setting myself up for something that looks plain. I want the dramadities- I am pretty sure that is not a word. My point is I want my opening sequence to be fantastic. My titles will not be embedded onto the scene, they will be added through editing. I took a break when completing this blog because I did not know what I would use instead. I have decided Imovie was the best way to go. Through there I found a titles font named focus and I think this blends in with my opening sequence really well. For the color, I am going with white.

Planning: Other Information

Location:   For the location of this project I immediately thought of two places. The two places I have in mind is my room and then the cemetary on Oakland park. Participants :  I have thought about this long and hard and have decided that I will use the resources which were given to me. I have to practice getting out of my shell more and that includes me asking for help when my pride does not allow me to. I will turn to my older cousin, who helped me with my music video, again for a helping hand. For the extras and the characters in the opening sequence I plan on using my friends and loved ones. I have not thought about the specifics yet however. Things such as who will play what role have not been spiraling in my head much. Health and Safety : I will be very cautious in recording the opening sequence. I know COVID is real and is thriving as of now. I am trying to gather the least amount of people that I can. I do not like putting people in danger, I feel like that is very unnecessary

  1.      How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? I counted fourteen titles this time around. I am starting to feel unsure as to am I counting the titles correctly. When I read the requirements for question one I thought the answers would be around 3-4. Lately I have been getting ten and over. I am a bit worried that I am counting extra credits. The credits I saw in the opening film were screenplay, screen story, produced by, executive producers, director of photography, production designer, editors, actors, music by, co-producer, casting, visual effects supervisors, production company, and unit production managers. In all honesty I started to see assistant directors and things along those lines so I stopped. That was definitely too much for me to add to the blog. 2.      What connotations do the images carry? This opening sequence put their all into it. Never have I ever heard an opening song that fits so well with what is on the screen at t

  1.      How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? I counted approximately five titles displayed during the opening sequences. I counted all the actors name as one title because they would all go under one category.  I am not completely sure my answer is right however. The titles were in French, though I am taking a French class I have not learned these words. I included the titles which I was able to properly translate. The titles that were displayed during the opening sequence to the film was coproduction, production company, the title, the actor's names  2.      What connotations do  the images carry?    The clock in the beginning creates a symbol for time passing. As the opening scene goes on flashes of throw up and human bodily fluids are shown. Music is played in the background and each time it stops a feature such as whistling clapping, or the cymbals is added. Despite what is on the actual screen the viewer feels cheery when wanted

1.     How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? I counted eleven titles that were displayed ruing the opening sequences to the film. The first title that popped up was the name of the production company. At first I thought the characters were walking backwards. After a couple of moments I soon realized the whole opening scene was reversed. This was most certainly a different way then the standard opening scene. After the name of the production I saw the name of the studio. The next titles I saw were costume design, and music by. The actor names and the film title showed up and those were self explanator. The next titles were edited by, director, co-producer and produced by. 2.     What connotations do the images carry?     I am on edge when watching this. I feel like I am there with the characters engaging in these suspicious activities. The last couple of seconds of the opening scene got intense. One of the three main characters started phy

Title Website Research

I found two amazing websites. Before I decided to dive right in I took a deep breath and realized that was not the best option. I wanted to see what choices I had. Of course I could not do this without testing them both out. I started to compare their features to see which one shouts me more. Art of the Title was the website that drew me with its catchy title and impeccable font. The formatting for Art of the Title was more than recommendable. From my first look I was wooed. Can you imagine? This fascinating website is able to let me research movie openings! I sound elated because I am overjoyed, I have this cool resource at the tip of my fingers that will make or break my project. Used correctly however, it will most certainly make my final project. The down side to this Website is the movie openings are pulled from ancient movies. When I say ancient I am exaggerating, the movies were from a couple of months ago. On to the next website, I see an organized website. This website is ca

A woman is formally accused for killing her husband; a novice lawyer believes there may be a conspiracy going on. This movie often displayed close-ups. Using close-ups, we could see the emotions of the character that was on screen. Arial shots showed the surrounding area of the house or place the characters were at. Establishing shots in this movie were found in the beginning of the scenes. Their purpose was showing where the scenes is filmed and to give the viewers an idea of the settings where this happened. The costumes were plane and modern. Dressy-casual is the term I would use to describe the outfits . The film was centered around a lawyer who was getting down to the bottom of things. There was not much of a frequent wardrobe change. The lighting was decent, the acting was top-tier even A1. The make-up was great, I could not even tell they had make-up on. People now-a-days do an exquisite job in make-up. The props were realistic and they had an array of settings. The two most pro

This movie is about an old couple, a husband and a wife, spending a hectic weekend considering selling an apartment they have been sharing for over forty years. The couple thinks firmly as they think of what's at stake of turning their backs on their home that is full of memories and feelings. This movie often displayed close-ups. Using close-ups, we could see the emotions of the character that was on screen. Establishing shots in this movie were found in the beginning of the scenes. Their purpose was showing where the scenes is filmed and to give the viewers an idea of the time and place this is occuring. The costumes were simple outfits that you would see in normal times. The film was centered around a beautiful old couple who were trying to sell their home. That home has been called theirs for decades but the times have changed so it is hard to stay in one place and old-fashioned when everything around you is changing. There was a moderate change in wardrobe but that would be w

This movie is a heartening story about a drag queen taking in a family of two (a mother and daughter) and helps raise the daughter while her mother battles with drug addiction and everything that comes along with it. This movie often displayed close-ups. Using close-ups, we could see the emotions of the character that was on screen. Establishing shots in this movie were found in the beginning of the scenes. Their purpose was showing where the scenes is filmed and to give the viewers an idea of the time and place this is occuring. The costumes were out of the ordinary. The film was centered around a poor mother and child who got taken in by a kind-hearted man. There was a frequent wardrobe change. The lighting was decent, the acting was believable but it was not the best while still managing to capture the essence of a kind soul. The make-up was horrible, which is acceptable because this movie was made in the early 2000s. People back then went for flashy make-up. The props were realisti

Final Genre Decision

Image
I have decided to use the drama genre for my opening sequence. Drama delivers the emotional development of realistic characters in a realistic setting. Intense character development places the audience in the character's shoes. Drama films are model presentations or stories with settings or realistic situations that portray characters in conflict with either themselves or others. Movies in the drama genre tend to show us human beings in all of their forms. The forms which I am referring to are humans being at their best-selves, worst-selves and everything that comes with that. This genre is like a memory coming to life. The films are normally plot-driven, everyone has their own role to play. This genre best suits characterizing the real world because people tend to believe they are the main character while everyone else plays a small role. Drama genres are directed to flow correctly. There should not be a character that comes out of thin air. A backstory allows the audience to get

Genre Research: Drama

Image
The drama genre features stories with high stakes and a lot of conflicts. They're plot-driven and demand that every character and scene move the story forward. Dramas follow a clearly defined narrative plot structure, portraying real-life scenarios or extreme situations with emotionally-driven characters. CAMS: Eye level Medium shot Long shot Zoom Wide Shot Mis-en-Scene Different lighting Inside homes In nature Natural makeup Editing Split Screen Cuts Fast-forward Slow-motion Sound Diegetic sounds Nondiegetic A couple of examples of Drama movies are "greyhound", "five feet apart", and "remember the titans". I would use the indoor settings for my film because it will make the plot seem more realistic. I will not use any fast-forwarding in my editing because that will spoil my plot.

Genre Research: Thriller

Image
Thrillers are dark, engrossing, and suspenseful plot-driven stories. ... Any movie can generate excitement, suspense, interest, an4d exhilaration, but because these are the primary goals of the thriller genre, thriller writers have laser-focused expertise in keeping a reader interested. They give viewers heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation, and anxiety. Thrillers also usually have a main character who is slowly isolated from the people they once trusted and relied on. The betrayal might thrust the protagonist into a new worldview. CAMS: Point of view shots Long shot Tracking shot Tilt Wide shot Mis-en-Scene Suspensful music Nearly black themed Unsafe settings Editing Jumpcuts Cutting Sound Ominous music Some examples of thriller films are "no good deed", "oxygen", and the woman in the window. I would adopt the point of view shotbecause it gives the audience the character's point of view. I would not use nearly black theme setting

Genre Research: Action

Image
Movies in the action genre are fast-paced and include a lot of action like fight scenes, and slow-motion shots. They can feature superheroes, an array of violence, special effects, explosions, stunts, doubles, and martial arts. The storylines are usually exteneded to display the how the plot occurs rather than the plot itself. CAMS: High Angle Low Angle Over the Shoulder Bird's Eye Tilt Pan Tracking Shot Mis-en-Scene Dark lighting Alleyways Natural Makeup Sketchy settings Editing Cutting Speeding Flashbacks Filters Sound Sword Fighting Background sounds Music Three examples of Action films are Red Notice, Jungle Cruise, Brick Mansion. I would use the natural makeup as well as the forms of editing found in action movies because I like them. The elements of Action films I will not incorporate is sketchy settings, I would like to stay away from zones that will possibly harm me.

My Pitch

Image
Pitch One : A man escapes jail and hides within a mall. I would be interested in making this film because there is so much to base it off of. If I were to go through this idea the costumes and locations would be a piece of cake. I can envision a bright orange jumpsuit for the escapee. However this pitch has more difficulties than treasures. The first problem I would run into is the amount of actors, being that I work alone it would be nearly impossible to get a whole group of actors and extras in this set not to mention COVID restrictions.  Pitch Two : A girl writes in her diary about a tragedy that occurs to her. I would be interested in making this film because not only is it interesting to me, but it is feasible. Everything that I am imagining concerning this film is do-able and from my point of view I will do an excellent job at it. With this pitch I would be able to drag the beginning out and get enough footage as recommended. The angles I am able to use are endless. There are eno
